Playbeat - Sequence Lane ala EZD3

Hi.

The beats in Playbeat, and the ability to manipulate/generate them (as individuals) are superb!

The one feature Playbeat really needs, IMO, is the ability to construct and playback a full-length song based upon a sequence of its presets.

This sort of full-song construction and playback is becoming more commonly available, and is extremely useful.

Premier examples include Toontrack EZ Drummer 3, and Superior Drummer, and Scaler 3.

To be clear, the idea is that the plugin offers a “lane” into which presets may be dropped to create a song-length performance which is then played back via the transport.

I hope Playbeat (4.5?) will go here next!

Hi, and thanks for reaching out!

While Playbeat doesn’t have a dedicated song mode, it does include remix slots (keys) where you can store up to 24 different patterns. You can trigger these patterns via MIDI or your controller within your project, effectively working as a song mode, while also offering greater flexibility.

The workflow you suggest, while possible, is much more cumbersome than being able to build out a song directly in PB would be. It takes much longer to accomplish, ties the result to a single separate external program/sequencer, offers no visual assistance or overview in the construction process, etc. I appreciate your suggestion of a work-around, but long experience has taught me the major advantages of programs/plugins which allow for creation/saving/archiving of song arrangements locally while offering sync’d playback with any and every DAW or other program (e.g. GIg Performer) at any time.

So, I don’t know if you are saying "Nah, we don’t want to do that.”, but I sure hope not!

I was simply suggesting a potential workaround that we believe offers more flexibility. That said, I agree that in this case, relying on an external sequencer (such as a MIDI track in your DAW) is a bit more complicated. Currently, we don’t have plans to implement a dedicated song mode, but as always, we prioritize features based on user demand. If more users request it, we’ll definitely consider adding it.
