I’ve been using Playbeat since it came out, so I have a pretty good handle on it. It’s always had issues in Digital Performer, which I know you don’t support, but I use it anyway because there is nothing else like it!
The “Global Dice” MIDI parameter - which I assume is the same as what’s called the “Randomization button” in the manual? - only works once. After the first press of the C-2 key on my controller, which is what I have assigned it to, it no longer has any effect.
The Infinity button is not working properly, when a sequence is playing it only changes the pattern, not the sounds, no matter how I have my settings set. Additionally, I can set it to negative values!
Do I really have to go through every factory preset and click the Smart button? It would be great to be able to select multiple presets and add them all to the Smart collection with one click!
Apologies for this! Version 4.0.2 is already available and fixes the first issue along with a few minor bugs. Regarding the infinity control, it is designed to remix the pattern, would you prefer a different behavior? As for point 3, we can make that happen.
btw - You don’t need to go through all factory presets for them to be marked as ‘smart,’ as this is already handled by a combination of existing algorithms in the main engine. ‘Smart’ was developed to further personalize the pattern generation engine.
According to infinity mode - if infinity mode is activated when the loop is to change the pattern and the instant remix button is pressed - the pattern is overwritten and remixed with the instant version.
Thank you! I can confirm that the MIDI control is now working properly with 4.0.2
Regarding the Infinity mode, I see now that it was my misunderstanding. However, I would LOVE it if Infinity mode could also have a Pattern/Sounds/Both switch!
Regarding “smart” markings, the confusion was because in the preset list nothing is marked as “Smart” on installation, at least in my setup. So it looked like I had to activate it on every preset. Maybe the shipping presets that are in the “Smart” mix should be marked that way.
Thank you very much again for your prompt attention.
The ‘Smart’ mode is designed to add more personalization, particularly for your own presets. Pre-selecting and marking factory library presets as ‘Smart’ would go against the purpose of this feature, as it is developed to enhance personalization a little more than the genre-based algorithms do.
Got it. Thanks. So, as we build a library of favorites from the collection that we can mark as “smart,” and our own, it will learn what we like to do. I see that this is different from using the categories/tags. Looking forward to seeing how this works, though I gather that it will take some time for it to really get going.
