I belived in you, i Suported you by buying your products, and for 2 years Riffer and PlayBeat are Dead… Thank you again
Audiomodern is a small company that makes cool plugins and has been working on a new version of Playbeat for a while. Release dates get pushed back all the time nd for all kinds of reasons, but it is not because they are lying. Pushing a release date back hurts the company more than anyone else. What is the problem here? I think you need to take these childish posts down.
Man… talk about overdramatic, Playbeat is far from dead, they’ve only pushed back the release which does happen with companies, these are 1st world problems let’s get abit of perspective here.
Looking forward to seeing what the guys have been baking in Playbeat 4, might even take over my Polyend Play duties depending on its features.
That’s not true. Over the past few years, many user requests have been implemented, along with several free expansions created by talented sound designers. Naturally, we also need to address bugs that arise with new OS versions, making these updates essential.
We could certainly push for an earlier release by a couple of months, but we don’t work to please funders or investors (which we don’t have). Our focus is on delivering a solid, well-tested version that meets our users’ needs and includes the features they’ve requested.
As I mentioned, all the algorithms in this new version -except for the Smart mode- have been completely rewritten from the ground up. We’re confident this approach will enhance drum part creation and offer a fresh perspective amidst the many excellent drum machines on the market.
I m 48 old and I buy the plug-in based on the fake advertising that they made and on which they said they gonna update the plug-in each month with new futures and stuff… The most of the update were fixing errors ! Even if I email them a lot of times asking for a fix regarding the glitch in the annotation of the notes, they fix it after 1 year and a half … In the meantime they release a lot of plug-ins and materials and left behind software with problems ! If you have Problems with the softwares you don’t release another one with also problems, because you will end up in a Ton of broken softwares ! Oh yeah, I care about my Money !!! It’s not childish !!!
Never buy anything on a promise of features being added in updates, unless you’re happy with the current functionality of course. I gotta say this is on y’all, there’s a demo, if you didn’t like what it could do then why make a purchase? At the same time this is taking a long time, but seriously why buy a “promise”, I just don’t get it.
Unsequestered From Playbeat 2 to Playbeat 3 was a big step, and i buy the update… bat the update had a lot of issues… I did Not know that when I buy it… Once i had it I noticed… Why sale a product with issues, i just don’t get it. Now you get it?
Looking forward to PlayBeat 4.
I see that SoundTestRoom is doing a walk thru:
FWIW, @Audiomodern i love your products and welcome the innovation you are introducing to the iPadOS Platform. You are steadily showing what is possible on that platform and on macOS.
Keep up the amazing work and thanks for the continued support over the years. I’ve been a loyal customer of yours since the Live M4L days and have never been dissatisfied nor disappointed with the tremendous effort you all spend in crafting inspiring tools for musicians who want to make music and be inspired every time they open one of your apps.
Here’s hoping for a blessed 2025 to the AudioModern team and Community
Oh, I was just going to the stream because of the email notification… but… iOs? sorry but I cannot deal with this mobile stuff… for me absolutely useless… guess I have to wait more…
Nah. With an MClass iPadPro or modern iPad Air music making is amazing. There are too many great apps:
Drambo
Koala
BeatMaker3
AudioModern kit.
Skies the limit.
Should I return my Playbeat 3 purchase? Bought it 2 days ago… or will there be a grace period?
We don’t have a release date yet as we’re finalizing the app’s last touches. Rest assured, we’ll announce a grace period and an upgrade path when it’s ready. Feel free to reach out to me via PM, and I’ll be happy to assist.
@echoopera
Thank you so much for your kind words and support over the years! It means the world to us to hear how much you’ve enjoyed our journey.
Here’s to an amazing 2025! We truly appreciate you being part of our story, thank you!
I don’t use Playbeat 3 for electronic music, I use it for generative beats to drive/inspire/accompany guitar-based improvisational live looping (rock, blues, jazz, reggae, funk, prog, etcetera).
Will Playbeat 4 include sound samples and – more important – patterns that the AI can leverage for these kinds of more “traditional” beats? ALSO, are Playbeat 3’s MIDI control/mapping and output features preserved? Critical stuff for me, especially the MIDI out since I’m typically triggering acoustic drum kit multisamples and such.
(On the MIDI front, hopefully you know about and have fixed the Channel 2 MIDI output issue. If that’s not been reported, I’m happy to provide some details about my experience. Seems to be a legit bug across multiple platforms and use cases.)
LOVE Playbeat and Audiomodern plugins. Excited for P4 and 2025. THANKS!
Hi, Playbeat primarily caters to electronic styles and subgenres, but we’ve incorporated some acoustic elements in the upcoming version. If there’s increasing demand for these styles, we’ll ensure to expand further as our AI features are updated.
MIDI control/mapping and output settings can be saved with the preset, and you also have the option to lock MIDI outputs.
Regarding the Channel 2 MIDI output issue, could you please describe what you’re experiencing?
the channels seem to have a feedback issue that spikes the channel and renders the audio and DAW mute until Daw is reloaded. it does it quite often. even turning down the individual channels in Playbeat mixer or the Daws mixer doesn’t help .
I’ve seen something similar but on iOS - which platform are you using?
For my part, I don’t need non-electronic sounds within Playbeat, but I have found a number ways to make it work for live improv and looping, with traditional instruments and non-electronic styles. I guess I’m just nervous, having glimpsed the new UI, that some of the PB3 features I lean on may have been removed or hidden away.
With regards to Channel 2 MIDI, it’s like PB sends something on Channel 2 that triggers samples in a receiving app or plugin to play in reverse. I’ve never tried to troubleshoot, frankly, and my quick fix is to change the default PB Track 2 MIDI output to any channel other than Channel 2.
A specific setup with this behavior is Playbeat sending MIDI to the 4pockets Digistix app with both hosted in AUM. I remember thinking at first it was an issue with Digistix, some time ago. However, I think I later encountered this same behavior/interaction with other iPad app combos and, more recently, on my MacBook with DAW-hosted plugins.
Hope this helps. Keep up the good work. Excited to get my hands on PB4!
Hello @bkbigfish - I believe that the issue you describe with Playbeat and Digistix 2 on MIDI Ch 2 is specific to that setup. I have the following note from the developer since I had encountered a similar situation:
The steps below apply to DSX2 —
“To resolve this first select TRACK 2, then long press the TRACK button and set its output to CH1. In fact do this for all tracks containing drums.
The reason for this is that when recording output from DS2 into a DAW, it sends reversed hits out on CH2, the DAW records this and when sent back to DS2 it plays correctly. “
Hope this is helpful
Super helpful, thanks. Perhaps this is just an issue with DigiStix. I’m just a hobbyist who never has enough time to play music. However, the next time I get everything up and running, I’ll take a closer look and try to verify the behavior, both with and without Digistix.
