I am trying out the Playbeat 4 trial version, and just wanted to know if this is a limitation of the demo and not in the Full Version.
When I save patterns in the re-mix keys, then select another preset the saved patterns are deleted?.. Does the Full Version save the patterns when you select other presets.
Is there no way of having the re-mix presets saved temporarily in memory, until the user decides to keep or delete them. Saving X amount of presets just for the re-mix presets seems like an unnecessary workflow headache. I would only save a preset if I liked the pattern so it’s permanent .
Just jamming and testing out ideas, only for me to save and delete presets is tedious.
If there was a delete preset button next to the saved button, then this might be usable.
Understood. This design ensures that all remix variations are saved along with the preset. The idea is that if you have remix keys filled, you’ll likely want to use those snapshots, so saving them along with a preset as you would save a session is the only way to do it right now. However, we’ll explore the possibility of saving these in memory. That said, this would mean no random preset would load upon reopening the app. We’ll look into it.
That would be great if you could take a look, to see if it’s possible
If you mean the remix keys that are temporarily in memory . Yes! I wouldn’t expect them to be there when the app is reopened, as the memory would start from a clean state. Only if they are saved as a permanent preset then I can re-use the remix keys.
Can a preset delete button be added on the main tab. It could be on the opposite side of the saved button,… just in case of accidental deletions.
Reason for this, I have to open the browser, scroll to the bottom, then see which user preset I want deleted. If a delete preset button is on the main tab, I can use the < and I’m there in the user presets. I can then use the < > to flick through the user presets, and delete quicker
I thought I could Load the Pattern with the Remix Keys intact, into a different Preset.
The Pattern loads, but no Remix Keys. So the Remix Keys can’t be re-used into a different Preset?
What do you expect when loading a preset when the remix keys remain the same? You only change the sounds, while the patterns stay the same in the remix keys. So I was thinking that you could load sounds from a preset, which is an available option, but it also removes the remix keys, so yes, that needs to be reconsidered.
I haven’t tested the Load Sounds, so loading sounds removes the remix keys. That does need to be fixed.
I was hoping loading a pattern included the remix keys, as they are patterns originated from that pattern, as it’s just stored data,… unless I’m mistaken.
The remix keys would just populate the empty remix keys, even though I couldn’t see why they can’t override existing ones.
Anyhow the way it works now. The Remix Keys are stuck within one preset, you can’t try them out in different Drum kits presets in Playbeat, and because of the way Playbeat works every Randomize pattern is never the same.
I wanted to store my favourite Remix Keys, and re-use them in different Drum Setups, as the sounds would be different,… and do some light edits in the Remix Keys.
Trying to help - I’m using PB 4.0.6 on iPad and here’s what I’m able to do:
Load a factory preset
Make a set of remixes (some generated, some my own)
Save the preset as a user preset
Click on preset chooser, expand one in the list and click “Load Sounds”
It retains the current pattern and the remixes and plays back the remixes with the new sounds
Save the preset as user preset - it saves the sounds as well as the remixes
So far, everything that I’m trying with saving the remixes with the preset is working. Unless I’m doing something special or missed something, I’m not seeing the same limitations. This is actually a really great idea that didn’t occur to me before, to save the remixes like this and change the sounds. Can you take another look?
*Edit: Studiodbfx posted some of the same info while I was writing this, lol.
This is correct and was in PB3. While playing a saved preset with remixed keys or not go to or click on the Preset Menu at the top and find any other preset and click on its little arrow tab and you will see the list of samples being used along with LOAD PATTERN and LOAD SOUNDS tabs.
