If this is the way you do business I will immediately stop using your (iOS) products. I’ve bought version 3 very late in December 2024, and a grace period was promised; otherwise I would have cancelled my purchase of version 3.
Besides that, there’s a VERY SIMPLE way to provide an upgrade to existing users; offer a bundle that contains both apps for a reduced price. If your users already own version 3 they can ‘complete’ their bundle by paying the additional fee / upgrade price.
If you were promised an upgrade path, you will receive it. Please contact me via support, and I’ll assist you.
Regarding offering upgrades on the App Store, unfortunately, it’s not that simple. The apps follow different pricing models, one is paid, while the other is free with in-app purchases, and our bundles have been rejected by Apple multiple times for this reason.
As I mentioned, it’s challenging since we don’t have access to any information about our iOS users to send custom upgrade offers.
Just have a question about the pricing model and changes as per shifting from PB3 to PB4 - just intrigued. I bought several of the PB expansions - Unveil, Reanimatic, Cosmic, etc. Now I see the upgrade path for me to get PB4 on both desktop and IOS will be a minimum of about €50. I’m sure the price of the IOS app has increased to take into account all the expansions that you’ve now bundled in for free. Why didn’t you keep the expansions as IAP’s and therefore keep the IOS app price down a little? Currently it feels like I’m being punished by essentially paying twice for bundled expansions I’ve already bought.
Not getting at you guys - happy to support you and I’ve bought just about everything Audiomodern. I also understand that you’re having to work within the confines of the Apple store system. It just feels a little tough and demotivating for loyal customers to be working with this pricing model.
The idea of a bundle (as noted by a poster above) could be a way to go, where for a limited time you have an introductory bundle of P3, P4 and expansions. Then if you already have P3, the bundle price is reduced. PB and expansions, the bundle price is reduced further. Email out to Audiomodern customers that after a month, the introductory bundle offer is taken down.
Hello, I understand the confusion, but your purchased packs will still work with version 4. While we haven’t ported over all the presets, we’ve significantly expanded the factory library with new unreleased ones.
It wouldn’t be fair to continue selling packs that contain content included in the factory library.
Regarding bundles on the App Store, we’ve explored different configurations, but each attempt was rejected due to varying pricing models between the two apps.
Unfortunately, it’s currently impossible to offer discounts through the App Store for previous users,
as we don’t have access to their information unless they reach out to us directly. That said, I’d be happy to share a promo code with you.
Thanks for the very quick and neat solution to constructively solving my earlier complaint. Other than my experience with a lot af vendors nowadays, I think this support was great
Can you please make a changelog or updates/fixes log available? I’d like to know more details about what has been fixed in version 4, specifically in the area of MIDI implementation, persistence of MIDI configs across instances of the plug-in, and how the myriad reported bugs from V3 have been addressed. Thanks!
Audiomodern - you’re a crazy bunch. Thank you for helping your loyal customers to stay loyal and committed, not only with the great apps you continue to develop, maintain and update but also for sometimes pulling rabbits out of hats in terms of stellar levels of customer support. It is much appreciated.
Hi, I’m also one of those with Playbeat on both ipad and mac - I bought it on ipad first and then loved it so got the mac version as well. Is there any way at all that we can give proof of purchase for ios and get a discount code? Happy to share my app store email and a pic as evidence if that helps. Love your work and have also gone for most of your other plugins.
Currently, the iOS version is only available for iPad. If you need to install Playbeat on a desktop computer, you’ll need to purchase the desktop version, which includes VST3, AU, AAX, and Standalone versions for greater host compatibility.
I assumed “complete suite owner” meant owning all the instruments, not necessarily all expansion packs. There is only one Soundbox expansion pack I don’t own, so I am apparently not a complete suite owner, despite owning all instruments. A bit frustrating.
I agree, before the release of Soundbox that’s exactly how it worked. For example I didn’t need to own any or all Playbeat, Loopmix or Chrodjam packs to be considered a complete suite owner. I understand that at least one pack is needed to unlock Soundbox so maybe as long as you own one Soundbox pack you could be considered a complete suite owner?
On future update release, will you please allow for custom library path during installation of the factory set so that we do not have to go through the process of manually moving and setting this later? Thank you.
