So many questionsā¦
So thereās MPE support, okay, awesomeā¦ How exactly is that implementated, as in what can be controlled by MPE? Thereās nothing mentioned at all in the youtube tutorial, I canāt find a manual listed anyway either.
Edit:
I did watch a different tutorial that at least touched on it a bit, but it is still unclear what MPE can actually do in this plugin. I see there is an option for āslideā which in assuming is polyphonic pitch control, but I donāt see an option for āpressureā aka polyphonic aftertouch, unless thatās what you have listed as āattach to aftertouchā but Iām assuming thatās mono aftertouch.
All this would be really easy to clear up if we could actually demo the plugin!
The pricing is extremely confusingā¦ Itās āfreeā but is it really it seems at leaat you need to purchase a sound pack to be able to use it, if thatās the case itās not really free, also no demo available as far as I can tell, again all kind of confusing, transparcy goes a long way.
Hi Unsequestered,
Current implementation can control Pitch Bend (horizontal) & Slide (vertical) if youāre using an MPE controller. Although we have options to allow more controls if they perform well with sample based patches. Weāre working on a video covering these use cases.
About pricing, we donāt think it gets more transparent than that, all information is included in the main Soundbox page. Soundbox is our player for our own instruments. It is not sold on its own, but comes along with any Soundbox Instrument.
You can download it from the main page for easy access but it requires a license key to be unlocked which comes with any Instrument library.
Hey thanks for the reply and clearing up whatās capable with MPE a bit. It would be great to have polyphonic aftertouch which is a vital part of MPE. This is exactly what I was talking about when I was saying itās not transparent what the plugin can do as MPE is more than just independent per note pitch bend.
I also stand by the pricing being confusing, saying itās a āfree engineā is vauge as I (and I sure others) interpretted it being able to use the sound engine without needeing to pay anything else. As it stands (if Iām understanding things correctly) I would need to pay 32 USD for at leat one soundpack to be able to use it. Can you please tell me how $32 equates to free?
BTW love your stuff as I own EVERY one of your products except this new one. Iām just letting you know as a dedicated customer how I feel about this. Take it or leave it, but Iām sure others feel a similar way. No need to missslead your loyal customer base (whether or not it was intentional).

Just adding on to the general intro posts here - I also have everything Audiomodern on PC and IOS so was wondering about this. I did find it odd that I found out about it first via a plugin site having it on sale when there was nothing here about Soundbox on the forum. Iāve been relocating so might have missed an email or two but I donāt remember getting any prior info about this product at all.
Adding to the questions above, it would be helpful to get a rough idea of future packs - these first 3 seem quite cinematic. Are the rest all going to be like that? Also, will there be free packs coming out as well? When the IOS version is out, will packs bought on PC mean those packs are also purchased in the IOS one, or will we have to pay twice?
I really want to get into this app, but Iād like to get a better understanding of the roadmap Audiomodern is thinking of - canāt really get into the initial sale offer because of those questions. Also, I really want to see Riffer, Chordjam updates implemented to add value to existing software before starting on a whole new app and expansion pathway.

Understood and we respect your point of view. As this is much different than all of our other apps, where the engine requires a separate purchase for the expansions/Instruments to play, it is very important to let the users know that this does not require a separate purchase.
We believe that having the editor fully unlocked might be the āconfusingā part as if it was a player, users would be focusing on the Instruments and not on how to use the engine for their own samples, which is totally understandable.
However we didnāt want to have two version available (e.g Player/Pro) and having the app fully unlocked for all Soundbox users was our intention since day one for this app.
In any case, we appreciate your feedback and will review it to see how we can make improvements on this topic.

Hi Sir_Caramel,
Soundbox is our platform for all of our playable Instruments. We have a few new libraries coming up in various genres and styles. We have some loop-based too, which means that a time-stretching algorithm, similar to our Loopmix app, will be included soon.
Our first Free Soundbox Instrument will be released in November, more will follow.
You wonāt have to pay twice for an Instrument that you purchased. The iPad version will allow you to import Instruments that are purchased from our site or resellers. Same as with our other apps, our format works across any device. If you want to purchase an Instrument from the App Store you will be able to do that as well via IAP.
Brilliant ā¦ thatās what I wanted to hear - thank you. The more info like that you can give us, the more we can drill down to determine whether or when to buy.
Iāll be buying this week. Great itās linking to Loopmix and confirmation of the IOS linked purchases is brilliant.
Thank you.
