Hello everybody, whassup?
I’m writing because I need clarification on how to correctly configure Ableton Live to control the four tracks of the Analog Four using multiple MIDI clips.
My goal is to create an Ableton Live set with 12 separate MIDI tracks, each sending MIDI to one of the four tracks of the Analog Four (Track 1–4), and have the Analog Four play these sequences correctly in Song Mode.
I would like to understand:
-
What is the correct MIDI routing setup in Ableton Live to send MIDI from multiple tracks (e.g., 12 MIDI clips) to the four Analog Four tracks.
-
Whether the Analog Four can reliably receive and record MIDI notes from multiple Ableton tracks into its internal sequencer while in Song Mode.
-
If there are any limitations or recommended practices when sending multiple MIDI streams to the same Analog Four track (e.g., merging patterns, overwriting steps, priority rules).
-
How Song Mode behaves when the Analog Four receives external MIDI notes from Ableton — does it follow the external MIDI, the internal patterns, or a combination of both.
-
Whether there is an official workflow for using Ableton as a “pattern generator” for the Analog Four while still using the A4’s Song Mode for arrangement.
My intention is to build a hybrid workflow where Ableton handles MIDI composition (12 tracks), and the Analog Four plays the corresponding parts on its four tracks, arranged in Song Mode.
Any guidance, documentation, or recommended setup would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much for your support.
