Soundbox Beta: Prototype Build with Full MPE Support

Hey everyone,

We now have a Soundbox prototype beta build with full MPE implementation, and we’re looking for a few curious users who’d like to try it out and give feedback.

This is very much a proof of concept, but it’s already doing some exciting things. You can now modulate parameters on a true per-voice basis using all five MPE dimensions:

  1. STRIKE (velocity)
  2. LIFT (note-off velocity)
  3. Pitch Bend
  4. Pressure
  5. Timbre

Each note carries its own expressive data independently, so things feel much more alive and responsive - especially if you’re using an MPE controller.

That said, this is an early build. Expect rough edges and probably a few bugs here and there. The goal right now is to validate the concept and see how it feels in real-world use.

If all goes well, this will be properly packaged and released publicly shortly after the beta run, so your feedback will directly help shape the final version.

Let us know if you’d like to test it, or if you have any initial thoughts/questions!

Thanks

I would be willing to test it. I have a Roli Seaboard 2, Seaboard M, Piano and Airwave.

I’m interested in trying out the beta. I have some hardware to test it with including Akai MPK Mini IV, Launchpad X, and an Artiphon Orba (discontinued but still works). I also do some MPE stuff with other MIDI apps.
