Remix keys issue - playbeat 4

Hi,

is this normal? When I create a copy of the main playbeat 4 sequence (residing on key C2) to the first remix key C3, and then make changes to C3 sequence, the changes I make also change the main C2 sequence. Why? I would have thought that the remix on C3 is independent of the main sequence on C2 but apparently not. Any help is appreciated.

Also, some more video tutorials and/or a more in-depth manual would really help me, the past few days I am learning most of what Playbeat is and isn’t from forums.

Thanks.

Hi @jsljustin , C2 doesn’t contain any pattern, it simply acts as a key switch that triggers all eight sequencers simultaneously. It functions as a “play” command, playing whatever is displayed on the sequencer.

Hi @Audiomodern,

ok thanks that is helpful information.

But in terms of key switches, is there a key switch that does have the main pattern (whatever is created, or loaded at the start from a preset)? Is the main pattern on C3, the first of the remix patterns, or does the main pattern exist nowhere until copied and pasted onto one of the remix keys?

Thanks.

When you load a preset, C2 will trigger the full mix of the entire pattern. Once you start working with remixes, there is no ‘main’ pattern anymore unless you reload the preset.
However, you can save the ‘main pattern’ -or- a specific state you want to be a ‘main pattern’ and assign it to any remix key of your choice, such as C3 or another key.

Hi @Audiomodern,

thank you, I understand now! I mistakenly thought C2 stored the main pattern, but now I understand. So I can just copy the main pattern to C3 or wherever, and go from there.

Thanks.
