Please add a dedicated “Sample Start” (Playhead Position) parameter (like in a granular synth) to the sequencer lanes, making it fully automatable and randomizable just like Pitch, Volume, or Density.
How it could look in the UI:
A new tab at the bottom alongside Steps, Density, Pitch, Vol, Pan called “Position”.
In this tab, we could draw or randomize the starting point of the sample for each individual step.
Alternatively, a “Random Start” toggle switch in the Sample Editor tab that forces the playhead to jump to a completely random millisecond of the loaded file every time a step is triggered.
Why this would be a game-changer:
Currently, Playbeat always triggers a sample from the fixed start point defined in the audio editor. If you load whole tracks, stems, or long texture files into a lane, Playbeat only plays the very beginning of the file.
With a randomizable/sequenceable playhead position, users could morph a single long audio file into an infinite stream of unpredictable micro-choppings and organic textures. It would bridge the gap between a step sequencer and a granular sampler.
Ultimately I want to be able to randomly play a random audio split from somewhere out my whole library of sounds and tracks.
Thank you for considering this! Keep up the amazing work.
Best regards,
Michael
