Hi, I have a feature Request for keyboard/midi learn shortcuts.
- Global. Above the 4 layers are two angle brackets < > that enable the user to globally select a instrument/articulation across 4 layers. I ask for each bracket to be accessible to keyboard shortcut/ midi learn. For example, the user can assign two pc keyboard actions to the brackets to switch between instruments. With midi learn, the user can assign notes/switches on their music keyboard/controller, which can be recorded in a daw track to switch instruments automatically (and sequentially).
- Per layer. Same brackets, but at the layer level. The user can assign 8 actions/midi learn across 4 layers.
- In the process of importing soundpacks, a list of presets/instruments appears in the righthand column, and there are usually more than one per instrument. I propose a new keyboard/midi learn option for each preset, where the user can create a shortcut/midi learn action. Example. I load the Kompakt Studio Cello. In the list of presets (articulations) that appear, i decide I want to use Sustain, Sordino, Spiccato, Pizzicato, and Tremolo in a layer, knowing I will “switch” between these articulations in a tune I’m recording in my DAW. I assign, in my example, an action for each, in this case by midi learn (CC), that will be recorded in my DAW on the designated track. So when playback is run, the “learned” articulations switch automatically.
- As discussed in another post, In Help and Support, I advocated for adding midi inputs per layer in Soundbox, and I add that suggestion here as an official FR. The user can assign sends from other tracks (as an example) to feed midi into Soundbox, by channel per layer. I suggest creating an option in Settings, where the 4 layers are listed, each with the option for selecting a midi channel per input. When a connection is made, a text indicator shows the connection, much the same as the current midi outputs section, but for inputs. The midi data is fed to a layer by selected midi channel (obviously). In the case of current Soundbox layout, it’s reasonable to expect the layers listed as midi channels 1-4 by default, and if the process of adding code to create a midi input for each layer is made easier by assigning a hard coded channel, then 1-4 makes sense for that too.
I’ve put the above FR’s together, because they are, more or less, part of the same function. It would be a lot harder to implement FR’s 1-3, without FR 4.
