I’ve created a lot of patterns in Playbeat. Some from scratch, some based on popular songs, etc. Out of all the random modes, “Smart” is my favorite.
With that being said… I’d love if there was an option to restrict the Smart random mode by using the Genre/Style tags. Similar to how it currently works for the AI random mode.
For example, I would want to select Smart Mode and then Hip-Hop and House tag. So then it only randomizes patterns that fit that criteria. Now that I have created and marked so many patterns as “Smart” across different genres and tempos, it’s taking a little bit longer to get things dialed in when randomizing.
Hello @BlakStatus ,
The Smart algorithm works similarly to the AI feature but is more general. It analyzes data from all presets tagged as ‘Smart’ rather than categorizing them by style or genre.
The key difference is that the AI feature analyzes data based on the selected music genres.
For better results, you can tag your presets with the relevant music genres, and switch to AI mode instead of using the Smart algorithm.
In AI mode, Playbeat functions much like the Smart algorithm, but it specifically analyzes data from presets tagged with the selected music genres, generating more relevant and usable results.
Yes, I understand and neither of those accomplish what I’m asking.
AI Mode - Pulls from genre tags, whether they are marked Smart or not.
Smart mode - Pulls from everything marked Smart and ignores genre tags.
I would like a solution where it uses genre tags AND what I marked as Smart.
I agree, that would be a great workflow improvement. Having that extra layer of control over the Smart algorithm would make it much faster to find patterns that fit the specific vibe of a project without having to switch modes entirely.
